ARTIST STATEMENT
My art navigates the emotional and cultural spaces between past and present, tradition and transformation. Born in Suzhou—a city rich in textile history, classical aesthetics, and inherited rituals—and now living in Vancouver, I carry the threads of two worlds. These threads, both literal and metaphorical, have become the foundation of my artistic language.
Working across installation, painting, photography, and video, I explore how memory can be reflected in material, gesture, and form. Drawing from my experience as an immigrant, I use thread, silk tassels, and archival images to map invisible connections between the places I've lived, the languages I've spoken, and the histories I carry.
My art-making process is meditative and contemplative. Each stitch, suspension, or layering becomes an act of translation. Through quiet compositions, I invite viewers to engage with the felt dimensions of memory, belonging, and silence.
